Hildesheim (Germany) – July 12, 2012 – Blaupunkt, the traditional German brand in high-performance car audio systems, is proud to announce that it has signed an agreement granting the Rockford Corporation headquartered in Tempe, Arizona (USA) exclusive distribution rights for the companys car multimedia and headphones range for the North American market. Setting the standard for excellence in the audio industry, the Rockford Corporation markets and distributes high performance audio systems for the mobile audio aftermarket and OEM market since 1973.

In addition, Blaupunkt and Rockford are extending their cooperation to service the global OEM market. By leveraging each party’s respective regional strengths, product portfolios, and support structures, the companies plan to offer global solutions on product areas like Radio, Navigation, Amplifier, Loudspeaker, Rear Seat Entertainment and Connectivity for automotive and commercial vehicle platforms. Rockford Corporation is a publicly traded company and manufactures its products under six brands: Rockford Fosgate(R), Rockford Acoustic Design(TM), Lightning Audio(R) and Brax, Helix and Renegade.

Blaupunkt was originally formed as a company called “Ideal” in Berlin in 1923 and became famous by the mark of quality used internally for its headphones – the blue dot. This symbol of quality became the trademark and then the company name in 1938. Blaupunkt is a leading brand for car radios in many parts of the world and in Europe in particular. Blaupunkt stands for quality and innovation. The company also focuses increasingly on components for consumer electronics and currently employs more than 500 people worldwide.
